Who we are
Rhyme & Roots is an acapella rap-battle series based in Tbilisi, Georgia, run by the Rhyme & Roots team. For anything about your data, write to contact.rhymeandroots@gmail.com.
Browsing without an account
You can read everything on this site — battles, artists, blog, services — without signing in. We set no analytics or advertising cookies and run no trackers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) for a short period to keep the site running securely.
When you sign in with Google
Signing in uses your Google account. Google tells us your name, email address and profile picture, and nothing else — we do not see your password or anything inside your Google account. We keep a session cookie so you stay signed in; that is the only cookie we set.
Once signed in, the site stores what you do on it:
- Votes — which side you voted for in each battle. Your vote counts in the public totals; nobody except the team can see which side you personally chose.
- Follows — which artists you follow. Artists see only a fan count, not names.
- Chat messages — what you post in a battle chat, shown publicly with your name and picture. The team can remove messages.
- Booking requests — the message, preferred date and artist you send from the Services page, together with your name and email, delivered to the team by email.
- Your member record — name, email, when you were last active, whether you receive battle emails, and whether the team has blocked you from posting.
Emails we send
If you follow an artist, we email you once when a new battle featuring them opens for votes. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn these emails off or on from your profile. We never send marketing email and never share your address.
Who processes the data
We do not sell or trade personal data. It is handled by the services that run the site:
- Google — sign-in.
- Supabase — the database and image storage.
- Resend — sending the emails described above.
- Vercel — hosting.
Each of them processes data only to provide that service. Your data is stored in the European Union (Frankfurt); the site itself is delivered through a global hosting network.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. Chat messages and votes stay attached to the battles they belong to; booking requests stay in the team’s records for as long as the enquiry is relevant.
Your choices
- Delete everything — open your profile and choose Delete account. This removes your account, your votes, your follows and your member record immediately. Chat messages you posted are removed with your account.
- Stop emails — the profile toggle or the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Ask us — for a copy of your data, a correction, or anything unclear, write to contact.rhymeandroots@gmail.com.
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it. Continued use of the site after that means you accept the updated version.
